Warning - there's another company who have started a website under the name harborne fish bar and offer delivery - they are NOT the same place. I was really annoyed when I accidentally ordered from them, and then had to head all the way down high street to pick it up. Horrible greasy stuff it was too. Avoid avoid avoid!

The real Harborne Fish Bar (Northfield Rd) is amazing - a Harborne institution. Highly recommended fish and chips and great service, with a 5 star hygiene rating. I was really disappointed to find out I accidentally supported their competition and the food wasn't nearly as good.

This is my local chippy and I'm very happy about that. They do traditional fish & chips plus the usual kebabs, burgers and southern fried chicken.

I always get the fish box so can't comment on the rest. Under a fiver you get a mini cod, mini sausage and chips. The batter is great, really crispy and chips are nice and big.

It can get a bit busy but service is very quick and friendly, can't fault it at all.

Food is fantastic here, top quality and great portion sizes!
Other places around may be cheaper but I value what I put in my mouth and if you want top tasting food I would highly recommend.

I've been going to this chippy for years - as a kid we used to pop here every Saturday without fail and some of my happiest memories are of watching Wonder Woman with a tum full of chips and Vimto. A few years later my friend got a job there (she loved the job but hated the fact her hair smelt of a deep fat fryer for days after her shift) so I used to pop in for a saveloy and a chat. It's been taken over a couple of times since then and I have to say that these days its not as good as it used to be - the chips are a bit soggy and the fish not quite crisp enough for my liking. They do a mean mushy pea here though and I'm glad that you can still buy pickled onions individually.

This is a standard little chippy, which is a short drive away from where I live, but it does not put me off visiting. There is always a long line of people when I come here, but it is definitely worth the wait and it gives me some time to look at the menu. I usually order cod and chips with some mushy peas and it pretty much sorts me out. I have to take them home so I can have a cup of tea, which is the best accompanying drink in my opinion. The staff are fairly friendly, but they are usually too busy for chit chat, which is fair enough and so, I like to get in and then straight out and home. They also serve the usual battered sausage and little pies, as well as other varieties of fish such as haddock and plaice. Overall, it is a cracking fish bar and the food is always tasty and satisfying for me! It is also near a few other take away restaurants, which I have found handy when I have been with someone who does not necessarily fancy fish and chips!
